Transcript:
A Mystic, Monk and hero, today we're taking a look at the origins of Chirrut îmwe.
INTRO
Chirrut Îmwe, is a resident of the moon of Jedha. He is deeply spiritual and studies the Force as a monk. It is his belief that all living things are connected via the Force. Chirrut is not a jedi and cannot use the force to move objects or read minds but he uses the connection between living beings to see, even though he is physically blind.
From a spiritual standpoint chirrut believes in the absolute destiny of the Force, declaring "all is as the Force wills it." It is his belief in fate and destiny which are his motivators to aid the rebellion, seeing their desire for good as the will of the force. It is him who pushes Jyn and the rest of the Rogue One team to believe in the Force and believe in the rebellion.
Churrit does fight even though he is blind using a modified bowcaster and wooden staff. He is very effective and is a feared warrior. He does not however fight alone but fights with his friend, protector and fellow rebel Baze Malbus.
Baze had little to no belief in the Force seeing the need to focus on the reality, not on the spiritual. Churrit continually encourages Baze to trust in the force and believe in its power. Both Baze and Chirrut are a part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic more commonly known as the Rebel alliance and both Baze and Chirrut had their home destroyed by the Empire.
Chirrit gave his life to the Force even though he wasn't a Jedi. Just like other members of the Church of the Force, and to find out the significance of the Church of the Force come back tomorrow for another video.
Thank you so much for watching, please subscribe if you need more Star Wars, and as always may the Force be with you.
